A Bohemian Inspired Maternity Session …. San Diego Photographer

First and foremost, I must say – How gorgeous is this mama??? You would not believe this is her fourth child! She is one of those woman that makes pregnancy look stunning. I am very lucky to have met this beautiful lady. Actually, she used to live in my hometown (Panama City, Florida) and we were introduced by another great friend, Jennifer Harrington ( hey girl!!! ). Jen was visiting San Diego and called me up and basically said “I want you to meet my friend Alison. She’s a photographer, she’s got kids, and she drinks wine.” SOLD! Just kidding. But really. Alison and I hit it off and quickly became excellent friends. We always have so much to talk about whether it’s photography, kids, pregnancy or Panama City! (one time we met for coffee at 9 am and literally didn’t leave until almost 2pm!)  I am very happy to call Alison a friend. She is such a gem. (and I’m very excited for our boys to play together!).

We decided to do the shoot at San Clemente Canyon. This place is my favorite place in San Diego to shoot ( you may have noticed ). It is gorgeous no matter what time of year it is. It changes with the seasons, it is absolutely beautiful there always. We also knew it would be a good place to play with the smoke bomb. I’m not gonna lie…I was a little unsure about California’s laws on smoke bombs, so we basically needed a place that we could take pictures and run, leaving  the beautiful colored smoke behind with the confused hikers. It ended up being a gorgeous evening for a shoot (duhh it’s San Diego). This was one of those sessions that I literally could not stop shooting. Sometimes I get a little carried away but I can’t help it when they are this lovely!! I love anything bohemian inspired and a bohemian  maternity shoot was right up my ally. Alison pulled the look of flawlessly. The purple floral crown with the gown (by Sew Trendy Accessories ) definitely had my eyes shaped like hearts! We saved the smoke bomb for last and when it came time to set it off, I was terrified! I was always one of those little kids that held the sparkler as far away from my body as I could on Fourth of July and this was no different. Not to mention I could hear Smokey the Bear in my head telling me that only I can prevent forest fires and smoke bombs do not prevent forest fires. Well, long story short I did it and it was no big deal at all. There was not even any fire involved. Phew. Just my overactive mind at it again! I will definitely be playing with smoke bombs in the future, they looked awesome! Anyways, have a look at this lovely boho maternity session and let me know what you think!
