Childhood in the Summer…
As a portrait photographer, I love taking photos of people dressed in things they wouldn’t normally wear in a place they wouldn’t normally be in. But lately, I have just been wanting to capture the art of everyday life. Especially with children. These types of sessions document the actuality of childhood. Sure, it’s always nice to put your kids in a white shirt and tell them to smile on the beach, but its even better to portray the natural pieces of life. An image that can capture a child’s personality or the connection between siblings can mean so much more later down the road; especially when they grow out of those very personalities. I love to show a family experiencing life together.
Like these two. Meet Liam and Eden. My daughter and nephew. Two cousins who live on opposite sides of the country. Recently Eden and I got to take a trip to Florida to photograph a wedding and we mixed business with pleasure and stayed long enough to hang out with my family. These guys hadn’t seen each other since before either of them could walk and they were barely interacting. It was so fun to see them together. They definitely played together but they also pushed each other, fought over toys, competed, danced, screamed, pulled each others clothes, used each other as stepping stools, stole each others food, cuddled, laughed, shared and so much more. The relationship between these two has inspired my photography and the importance of capturing the little moments in everyday life.
